I’m all up in the clouds

No really, I am totally about this awesome “cloud” service for photographers these days.  For years now I have been burning and mailing discs to my clients which has it’s advantages but more disadvantages really.  I have clients who have lost discs, no worries, I keep things backed up for a while but I can’t keep every photo.  There are times when I have to purge old files.  so I found the site a while back and I really liked it’s idea, but at the time it was mainly for weddings and there was a $30 fee per event, well that just wasn’t an expense I was willing to pass on to my clients, so I waited a while and then I decided I would check it out again and low-and-behold they are now offering a free service for smaller sessions, which is the majority of my business.  So this week as I got to editing, I had a few clients try out the cloud system and they really liked it.

So for my clients and future clients this means you will not have to wait for me to mail you a disc, you will receive an email from me with a link, the link will be password protected, and you will be able to download your photos on your computer, your tablet, your photo, whatever straight from the site. It really streamlines getting the images to you in a very quick fashion, with outstanding quality. The only real downside is that you have to download each image separately, which doesn’t take too long.  All-in-all I am SUPER excited to be offering this new service to my clients.

Here are a few screen-shots from the site to preview what it looks like.

I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!!

Much love,

Our Journey though Cancer-land | Personal Post

As many of you know January 15, 2013 my oldest daughter Jaden, who is 13 was diagnosed with stage 3 Lymphoma.  I started off the new year of 2013 with a big push to bring my photography business into a full time business.  For months prior to that I had been working non-stop, actually way too much.  I was teaching full time then doing any and every session I could on the weekends, then on that day our whole world changed.  Our lives were turned upside down.  What once were our priorities were no longer priorities.  My photography business seemed crazy and I had a great deal of guilt surrounding my business, once Jaden was diagnosed.  I felt guilty I had been so busy I had been. There were times where I felt I could never go back to photography but then after some time I decided to pick my camera back up and I started to document her journey.  And though these photos I remember why I loved photography and slowly after a break I eased back into some sessions.  The first session I had after my break I got to the location and realized I had forgot my memory card.  I was rusty but I feel like I’m getting my groove back.  So today as I sit her next to my beautiful sweet, strong, bald child getting her chemo, I decided it was time to take the plunge back into it.  I decided that I wasn’t going to let cancer stand in my way.  I have learned many things one in particular that you must live life and do what makes you happy so this, photography and capturing memories for families is what I love.  So I decided to revamp my blog and start fresh, new logo, new blog, for the new me.  Right now I am taking appointments but it’s a bit limited, but I am gearing up for the Summer when I will be back hitting this full time so if  you would like to book a session please, head over to the contact me section and I will get back with you.  If you would like to see more of my work please check out my facebook site, you will get to see much more of my past work.

And lastly if you would like to follow our journey though cancer a little closer you can follow our caringbridge.

I hope you all like the new blog and I look forward hearing from you all.

Much love,

Layla
